Holding on to the Summer Rays

READY TO GO WITHIN? Nah..

In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the time of fall, when the trees begin to drop their leaves, nature goes dormant, and so do we in a way, in preparation for the winter months. Here in Northern Colorado there are still some rays of sunshine and warm temps but you can see and feel Autumn approaching fast. Night temperatures are dramatically cooler, the occasional rainfall prepares the ground and some trees have already begun to loose their summer attire. Typically the first snow fall will surprise us after a really warm fall day.
Personally, I love the warmth of the summer and I would gladly enjoy a few more weeks of sunshine. Light and sunshine greatly affect our every day mood. If you are someone who suffers from S.A.D. or depression, adding some colorful experiences in your every day winter life can help ease the mood. After all the sun is our source of life, light and warmth. It helps to booth our immune system, our vitamin D levels and help uplift and rejuvenate our moods.
autumn_leaves_rustle.jpgIt is with this in mind that I find myself preparing for the colder months of introspection and isolation by gathering the sun rays for the months to come. How can one do that you ask? Here are a few ways to capture the summer essence and bring it with you into the winter.

  • If you like art, use beautiful, bright colors in your creations which will help you absorb these brighter rays into your vibrational field and enhance your mood.
  • Prepare Color Spritzers from water stored in color bottles during sunshiny days and mist yourself throughout the winter. That will help rejuvenate your mood and spirit. This is the power of Color and its magic. Dress and accessorize in bright, summer colors when you need a boost. Orange and yellow are great colors to uplift your mood. Color therapy explains how that works.
  • Prepare & process summer fruits and veggies. You can cut & freeze, can or cook summer produce so you may make use of the summer abundance into the cooler months. Continuing to eat your rainbow colors in the darker months can be especially beneficial to your health and well-being.
  • Store root vegetables in hay or dirt in your yard or cool basement for a few months. Veggies such as potatoes, carrots and rutabaga can last a long time. I found these tips for winter storage.
  • Place a vase of flowers in your foyer or kitchen. Flowers always brighten our mood and the energy in a home or office. Right now there are many beautiful color leaves and fillers out in nature to enhance your arrangement.
  • Use essential oils that remind you of the sun filled days of summer: Bergamot, Jasmine, Geranium, Lemon, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Frankinsence are great for upligting the mood and opening the heart.
  • Ahh, Crystals. Yes, crystals are known to provide support, relief, relaxation, better sleep and have so many other ways of enhancing our lives. Bloodstone, Citrine, clear quartz and amber, in their beautiful earthy fall colors, can help with rejuvenation, introspection and focus. Sunstone is peachy in color with glittering sparkles inside. This stone is a great mood lifter that can help you find a more positive outlook in life.

These are just a few easy ways to continue bringing the energy of summer into your life. Read more on the power of color and how it can change your life.
