Allergy Season has you down?
In many parts of the world this is a challenging time for many allergy sufferers. In my neck of the woods, at the Rocky Mountains, this is the time when windy days abound, pollen is rampant and many people suffer from sneezing, itchy eyes, runny noses, congestion and many other symptoms. While treating allergies with energy medicine has been very successful in my practice one is not always able to get in for a session or right when those seasonal allergy attacks hit. For those moments, essential oils can do the trick. There are some essential oils that will help tremendously with easing the symptoms of this season, and if you have never tried them consider making them a helpful addition to your natural medicine cabinet. Essential oils can help calm your immune systems reaction to allergic triggers and hence lessen the symptoms that occur.
This following expert is from Rocky Mountain Oils and I thought I'd pass it along for those who can benefit from the information:
Eucalyptus — When it comes to allergy relief, Eucalyptus offers countless benefits. Used as an expectorant, Eucalyptus promotes clear airways and relieves congestion for easier breathing. The cool sensation of Eucalyptus also eases sinus itchiness and pain.
Lemon — This citrus oil is known to support the body’s lymphatic system to help you overcome respiratory conditions. Lemon also has antioxidant properties to cleanse the body of toxins and ease responses to allergens.
Ravintsara — Commonly known as Ho Leaf, Ravintsara contains high amounts of 1,8 cineole. This constituent offers many therapeutic benefits, including easing sinus pain, loosening mucus, and relieving headaches. You can also use Ravintsara to promote a healthy inflammatory response.
Peppermint — Breathe a little easier with the help of Peppermint essential oil. Inhaling the aroma of Peppermint can bring relief from nasal congestion and scratchy throats. A natural expectorant, this minty oil can help alleviate coughs and promote better breathing. "
Essential oils have been a big part of my world and they have often saved the day in our family. I always make sure that the oils I use are from a trusted source and are made from natural and organic ingredients without harmful additives. My favorites from this list are lavender, lemon and eucalyptus. Lavender is a very gentle oil and has multiple uses from allergies to treating wounds and headaches. Eucalyptus is a smell I am well familiar with, as in Greece we had many eucalyptus trees around our neighborhood when I was growing up and their smell bring back childhood memories. Lemon is very invigorating and I love how it awakens my senses. If you are new to essential oils, start with one small bottle and see how you like them and how your body reacts to them before investing in large quantities. Some of the oils can be quite pricey depending on availability of source and product. Their benefits well outweigh their cost however, and they can stay in your cabinet for a long time. Make sure to keep them out of the sun and extreme heat and they will serve you well.
Here's to your health and easy effortless breathing!
