Warm Sunny Daze & Setting Goals!
Oh, the summer days!
It is that time of year when I start craving some much needed beach
time and connection with the vast open waters. Every year around this
time we take off as a family and visit the Mediterranean, our family
and friends across the globe and enjoy the magic of Greece, its culture
and beautiful, inviting beaches. It is a time to connect with our loved
ones, enjoy fresh foods and bask in the warm sunshine.
For those who like the summer months and the warmth it brings you can relate to all that this season has to offer; fresh, juicy and succulent vegetables bursting with flavor, refreshing fruits, the warmth of the sun on your skin, lazy hours under a tree on a hammock, crisp clear waters at the lake or ocean and camping in nature. No matter your preference if you make it a point, you can find plenty of opportunities to take some "ME" time and remember your Reason for Being. You don't need to go that far however, to find those moments of peace and connectedness. Your back yard, park, hiking trail or nearby lake can do the trick. The challenge is making time for it. In our busy lives we tend to get lost in our to do list and often won't stop until the tasks have been completed. The problem is this could take days or even months at times. And so our lives roll by and before we know it it's now fall, or winter and now summer again and we have not yet "stopped to smell the roses"! I read something a long time ago that stayed with me, I think it was a quote by Wayne Dyer, and he said: "Don't die with the music still in you". Essentially he was referring to our hopes, our dreams, our gifts, that lay dormant until we allow them to be expressed. Take a moment to think what that might mean to you. Right now. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and connect to that urge deep inside waiting to be expressed. Now right it down on a piece of paper and keep it where you can see it often and be reminded of your intention. Because "energy flows where your attention goes". So we are more likely to complete things we set our attention on than not. By remembering, connecting and intending we bring thoughts from our unconscious mind into our conscious mind and that is where change begins to happen. This is as good a time as any to get clear on your dream and begin honing in to the reality of it. In many ways, the warmth and emotional support of these warmer months help us get excited and energetic about things we want to do. Sunlight fills us with vibrancy. As opposed to slower and heavier, doom and gloom emotions that can easily set in in cold and dark weather. But remember what you put into it is directly related to what you get out of it. "ME" time is essential to clearing clutter from your mind and focus on what you want. Focus and determination are also helpful. Here are some more tips on achieving your goals: 1. Get quiet and zone into what your intention is.
2. Get clear. Is this your own intention and do you look forward to making it happen?
3. Do you get excited about getting started on it and want to work on it all the time? 4. Identify your blocks. Are there any limiting ideas or issues standing in your way, tangible or not? Is your goal attainable and realistic? 5. Timeliness. Set a time frame for completing your goal. How much effort are you willing to put in? 6. Act as if you have already achieved your goal on a daily basis and stay in that mindset. These are just a few but efficient ways to get started. Awaken that child like wonder inside of you and invite it to come out and play. Seeing the world through a child's eyes can be magical and rewarding. And it creates a lighter inner atmosphere.
