Do you like to use essential oils? A wonderful article I read on Huffington Post, on essential oils and their role on our immune system. If you are not familiar with oils now is a good time (Fall allergies, colds and viruses) to learn a bit about them. There is a ton of information on essential oils, both in books and online. Always check your source however and follow guidelines carefully, as essential oils are very potent and readily absorbed in our blood stream. Usage may cause rashes and reactions if not taken/used as directed. It is also important to check on the quality of the oils; whether it is therapeutic, organic, GRAS quality. There are a lot of essential oils out there that have been diluted and adulterated, so use with caution or consult someone who knows about oils.

More Than A Scent: Essential Oils Aid The Immune System

If you do some research into the Royal English Archives, you'll come across an interesting little tidbit. It's a recipe for "thieves' oils." So the story goes: In the 17th century, when all of Europe was in the thrust of the Black Plague, a small band of marauding thieves seemed immune to the disease. They would enter the homes of Black Plague victims and have no fear of touching the bodies as they searched for jewelry and money. The King demanded to know their secret.
Their secret had to do with the oils they rubbed on their bodies. Because their family was from a long lineage of apothecaries, they had knowledge about how to use oils medicinally and prophylactically against disease. The King got the exact formulation they were using against Black Plague and this saved his entire family from the disease.

Today we think of essential oils as mere pleasant additions to a relaxing massage. But in olden days, some cultures valued oils even more than gold because their powerful healing properties were known.
Essential oils have the same function in the plant as blood has to the human. When you cut yourself, blood comes out of the cut. The blood cleanses the wound and kills bacteria so that regeneration of the tissue can begin. Similarly, when you cut a plant, resin, or the oil of the plant, is released.
Blood is a transporter. It carries nutrients to the cells. Oxygen is the constituent of blood that delivers the blood through the cell walls. When oxygen is taken out of the blood, the cells mutate and give off a toxic gas. This, then, creates a host condition that will breed disease. So, too, with plants. Oils serve as the defense system in plants. These oils oxygenate the plant and carry nutrients, vital elements and chemical constituents to every cell in the plant. They contain each of the plant's healing nutrients including trace minerals, vitamins, hormones, amino acid precursors and other components. They give the plant the ability to destroy infections, stave off infestations, initiate and maintain growth and repair structural damage. The essential oil of the plant is literally the life force of the plant.
When essential oils are applied to human skin, they carry the same healing force as they do to the plant. Because they themselves carry such a high concentration of oxygen, they also produce in the human system the highest level of oxygenating molecules of any substance on Earth. Because the oils are so highly concentrated, they are at least 50 times more therapeutically potent than the plant itself or herbs made from the plant.
Essential oils detoxify the body. Oxygen pushes unwanted chemicals out of the cell. Normal cell function and balance is established only when there is sufficient oxygen.
The absorbability of essential oils into the human system is unsurpassed. If you are deficient in oxygen, your cell membranes will begin to thicken. When this happens, oxygen is not able to get its nutrients through this thick wall. You may have been eating all the nutritional food in the world, but if the blood can't get the nutrients into the cell, you may have well-nourished blood but you won't have well-nourished cells. Essential oils are soluble with the lipids in the cell membrane and thus go through the cellular wall.
In addition, essential oils have the capacity to change the electrical frequency of the body. Our bodies are electrical. So is everything around us, including our television, our lights and our microwave. The difference between us and our electrical appliances is that we have a harmonic, coherent frequency whereas appliances operate at incoherent, chaotic frequencies. Our appliances have the ability to fracture the frequency at which we operate.
We know that the body awake averages a frequency of 62-72 Hz. Disease sets in when the frequency drops. The frequency of the body drops when the body comes into contact with substances that have lower frequencies: junk food, canned or otherwise denatured food, drugs and even synthetic vitamins. Research has shown that merely holding a cup of coffee in your hand can drop your frequency (probably through the aroma which, as we will see, has a more powerful effect on us than any of us would imagine).
The electrical frequency of essential oils ranges between 52 and 320 Hz. They have the highest frequency of any substance known to man. Because they are living substances, their frequency is harmonic with the human frequency. When essential oils come into contact with our bodies, the frequency of our bodies becomes raised to a degree so that we become inhospitable hosts to pathogenic organisms.
The Prescription:
Essential oils can be applied directly to the skin. Within 21 minutes of being placed anywhere on the human body, essential oil will penetrate every cell within the body. We rub our bodies with oils as specific medicines.
Merely breathing in the fragrance of essential oils is a powerful healer. The healing begins in the brain. There are 800 million nerve endings in the nose that detect odors. The nerve from the olfactory bulb extends back toward the mid-brain and then on to the pituitary and pineal glands and finally to the amygdala. At La Casa, each day we pick fresh ylang ylang flowers, eucalyptus, orange, mint, lemongrass or lemon leaves and whatever herbs meet our health needs at the moment. We crush these plants in our hands and just breathe in. We are breathing in the fragrance of the essential oil as it oozes from the plant, just as blood oozes from our skin when we are cut.
Essential oils can also be diffused in the air. Research has shown that oils can kill most air-born microorganisms. A French study colonized 210 various microbes; within 30 minutes of misting the air with a mixture of oils, only four colonies remained alive. You can mist your air with the fragrance of an essential oil by simply placing a few drops of oil -- 10 to 15 -- in a regular plant water mister diluted with some water.
Enough research has been done that we now have a lot of information on what conditions are affected by which essential oils. Possible therapeutic properties of essential oils:
  • Rose and lavender work well to treat insomnia. Rub the oil up and down the spine just before bedtime.
  • Peppermint relieves nausea, vomiting and fever and soothes indigestion.
  • Ylang ylang may reduce hypertension and high blood pressure. Bergamot is thought to be effective for insect bites, cold sores, sore throat and thrush.
  • Clove is one of three essential oils in which no bacteria, virus or fungi can live. It is used regularly in European hospitals.
  • Bitter fennel, dill and coriander have all been shown to aid diabetics in getting off insulin.
  • We also believe that the therapeutic effect of food supplements and herbs is greatly enhanced when essential oils are part of the formula. When herbs and food supplements are prepared for sale, they are dehydrated. This dehydration releases 90 percent of the essential oil of the plant. Without the oil, most of the life force of the plant has been evaporated out. We feel that this is one reason why herbs used today are less effective than when our ancestors used to just go to the fields and pick what they needed. When the essential oil is reintroduced into the supplement, you are guaranteed that the nutrients will reach the cellular level in your body.

Indigo, Crystal & Rainbow Children. Who are they and how can we help?

The requests for sessions by Indigo adults and children, as well as their more recent groupings of Crystal and Rainbow children have become more and more frequent in my practice, so I thought I'd share a little bit of information about these wonderful beings in order to shed some light for them and their parents who are curious and sometimes desperate to understand.

First off let me say that there isn't a ton of information out there about Indigos. However there are a few trusted sources that I will mention at the end of this blog and I will also share information from my personal experiences as a parent of such wonderful beings.

The term Indigo has been used to describe a group of children that have been incarnating on this Earth since the 1960's and that are here with a mission and a purpose. Most Indigos are now in their early thirties as the major wave of them came in in the 1970's but a lot of them continued to come until about 2000 according to most sources. These kids  are highly sensitive and come in with enhanced technological and creative abilities. A lot of times they have been labeled autistic, ADD and ADHD because of their limited capacity to have social interactions, stay on task and their different and sometimes odd (to us) ways of dealing with the world around them. They are wired differently and as I have been told by one "our DNA is different". They see the world around them in a different way than most people; they have a broader view. And the technological advances of our time is old news to them. Indigo's can feel things and know things without being able to explain how.

The Crystal children were the second wave of these sensitive children and started coming in around 2,000 when the Indigos started slowing down. This is a group of kids that are even more sensitive, very powerful, mentally and creatively, and are here to help us reach our next level of evolution. They are even more focused than their indigo counterpart and their demeanor is calmer and peaceful, with a loving heart, while they work as a collective consciousness to raise our vibration.

In this time of spiritual evolution the Indigos are now undergoing a spiritual upgrade so to speak. A transformation which is awakening the Christ within, the Love Force, that uplifts all consciousness. They are coming to be known as the Crystal children - an emerging group of "human angels" to help uplift and guide the human species into a higher state of being. The Crystal children have dropped the dark energy and the anger that a lot of the Indigos where carrying. They are highly telepathic and hence are often not great verbal communicators. For those of them that come in as new babies, they might take a while to start talking as they tend to communicate with their parents with their third eye, sending ideas and feelings to them in a quiet kind of way. They are filled with love, and their aura is bright and luminous. They have deep, meaningful eyes - the kind you would term an "old soul".

All of these individuals are highly empathic and very susceptible to other people's energy. If you feel overwhelmed when around a big group of people, such as school, work or social gatherings, then chances are your are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). An Indigo. A Crystal. A Rainbow. Or an Empath. This can cause a lot of distress if you do not know how to deal with such situations or how to protect yourself. People who are empathic have a tendency to take on other people's emotions and to feel the tension and emotions in the room. They can sense when things are off and can take on other people's burdens if they are lacking the tools to cope.  Now if you also happen to be an Empath, that means you are possibly also able to tap into other people's situations and thoughts more readily. Some traits that Empaths usually possess are similar to what we would term psychic. Empaths feel and just know things; they sense energy and emotions from far away. They are clairsentient, clairvoyant, sometimes clairaudient and their senses are activated by the unseen. To most people out there walking into a room full of other people is no big deal, but to a HSP or an Empath it can be extremely overwhelming and can create a panic attack. That's because once they walk through that door they are literally being bombarded by everyone's energy and emotions. If you are not trained to protect yourself, know how to rid yourself of dense energy that is stuck on you and have not been shown how to blend in without absorbing all that yuck, you are in major trouble.

HSPs are not only highly sensitive; they are naturally giving, they make good friends and are great listeners, they are spiritually inclined and they are always there for you. They tend to know just the thing to make you feel better even if they just met you. The problem is they can forget to take care of themselves and get overwhelmed by taking on too much which leads to frustration, negativity, rage, fear and depression. They are like sponges when it comes to emotions and the environment around them and need to learn ways of staying grounded and connected in order to not lose themselves in the vast chaos of emotion out there. When around other people they have trouble concentrating but can be focused, able to concentrate and feel good when they are by themselves. Indigos when unbalanced and overwhelmed can trigger depression, fatigue, panic attacks, food, sex and drug binges and several other physical and emotional burdens than make it hard to live a normal life.

For those of us who are parents of such children, our parenting skills trying to raise these kids can be greatly challenged. None of the classic parenting tools are quite enough or appropriate to help these kids stay happy and safe and to keep your sanity as a parent. These kids need our support in order to blossom into who they are. And we need to educate ourselves in order to help them do that. Funny enough they are actually here to teach us as well. To remind us to open our heart and be kind and loving.

Some of the most common traits of Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow children are as follows:
  • Have difficulty with discipline and authority
  • Are very creative
  • Communicate quietly
  • Can be easily distracted, lack concentration
  • Have strong empathy - are very empathic
  • Can get very angry and throw tantrums
  • "Nobody understands me"
  • Are highly intelligent - often classified as gifted and talented OR
  • Are classified as ADD, ADHD, Autistic
  • Lack social skills
  • Do not respond to time out, negative feedback
  • Respond well to logic
  • Refuse to follow direction
  • Have trouble staying on task
  • Get frustrated with the system - need to think outside the box
  • Lack of patience
  • Anxiety / Panic attacks
  • Have trouble focusing at school or at work
  • Electronics, computers, smart phones are second nature to them.
  • Can think and do many things at the same time
  • Question the status quo and have a feeling they can do things better
  • Have wonderful, strong intuition
  • Develop abstract thinking very young
  • May be psychic and very spiritual at a young age. Talk about memories of past/other lives.
Very often Indigo children are very intelligent and as a parent you know your child to be that; however when it comes to grades at school that intelligence is not reflected on their report card. The best way to engage Indigos is by getting them involved in hands on projects, going out in nature, learning a trait by shadowing a professional and finding a mentor for them. These kids will very often be rebellious in school, get to know the principal/dean on a first name basis,  and get in trouble often with the authorities. They are defiant and disgusted by any form of government. They may experience depression on and off, and feel that they do not belong. Suicidal behavior is often common in HSP as they have difficulty relating and feel the burden of the world on their shoulders. They sometimes become paranoid of their environment and are outraged at the idea of "Big Brother" watching them. They value their freedom and want to be out and earning and making their own life NOW! Indigos are usually very intuitive, have inner guidance (that they don't always listen to) and are prone to premonitions, psychic experiences and lucid dreaming. Their high frequency often shorts out electrical appliances/items; they might affect street light as they pass by, drain watch batteries and create malfunctions especially when they are upset. Indigos are very happy, healthy and powerful when balanced and have the tools to cope with their immediate environment. They are very sweet, caring and loving.

If you think that any of these descriptions feel familiar or you are a parent of such a child, or are an Indigo, I would urge you to come forth and share your experiences with me. We can work together to help you feel more comfortable in this world, explore your unique talents, let your light shine. There are ways to stay connected to who you are and blossom at the same time. Ways to stay safe, learn to protect yourself, keep destructive energy and people at bay and find your way in life as well.

Exercise:
Here is a tool to start taking charge of your life and your emotions: Anytime you feel overwhelmed or overtaken by an emotion ask yourself "Is this mine?"  Most of the time we assume that what we are feeling is coming from within, when in fact the overburdening emotion comes from our boss, our parent, a student next to us or in the class, a teacher. The guy in the car next to us that just uttered a swear word and screeched on ahead of us.  To a HSP it is very important to start discriminating between the sea of emotions that we sometimes drown in. When you stop for a moment and ask the question "Is this mine?" you bring your attention to that emotion. You get clarity. If the emotion is yours then confront it: what is causing it, is it valid, what can you do to resolve it? If the emotion is not yours then simply say "Return to sender" and bless it away. This might seem trivial but to a HSP this is vital. Recognizing what is yours and what is not can get you on your path to freedom. Freedom from overwhelm and anxiety. Practice is the key to making this technique successful. Catch yourself here and there, as often as you can and ask yourself the question, "Is this Mine?".

My post on how to get better sleep naturally has gotten really popular lately and I get a lot of questions about sleep problems, so I thought it would be helpful to share something that has improved my sleep lately: Wearing orange sunglasses at night.

There is a lot of research showing that blue light after sunset can disrupt circadian rhythm and suppress melatonin production but recent studies are showing that this has even more serious consequences.
Think about it, until the invention of electric light bulbs, people relied on the sun for the majority of their light and used only natural sources like candles, campfires and lanterns after dark (all orange lights). With the dawn of modern electricity, we suddenly had the ability to stay up with lights on for many hours after sunset.
With computers, TVs, tablets and phones, this use has extended even more and these new technologies are especially high in blue light.
Electricity brought many benefits, but it also gave us the ability to mess with our circadian rhythm and our sleep cycles.
Researchers have known for years that shift workers and those who are regularly up late at night are at a higher risk for various cancers but more recent research shows that even recreational exposure to blue light for a few hours at night can have a negative effect.
Some researchers even promote the theory that the disruption of natural circadian rhythm from (blue) light after dark is a big contributing factor to the rise in obesity and chronic disease. (1) There is even evidence linking this disruption of the sleep cycle to higher rates of heart disease, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems. (2)
From Harvard Medical School:
“Study after study has linked working the night shift and exposure to light at night to several types of cancer (breast, prostate), diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It’s not exactly clear why nighttime light exposure seems to be so bad for us. But we do know that exposure to light suppresses the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that influences circadian rhythms, and there’s some experimental evidence (it’s very preliminary) that lower melatonin levels might explain the association with cancer.” (3)
Shift workers and those up after 11pm seem to be especially at risk for the negative effects of blue light, but the research is showing that any of us who are up after dark looking at sources of blue light (TV, computer, etc) are at risk. Since my work day begins when my kids go to bed at 8, avoiding these things was not an option so I looked for another solution.

Orange to Block the Blue:

Turns out, there is a simple way to reduce most of the blue light we see at night: orange sunglasses. From Harvard again:
“While light of any kind can suppress the secretion of melatonin, blue light does so more powerfully. Harvard researchers and their colleagues conducted an experiment comparing the effects of 6.5 hours of exposure to blue light to exposure to green light of comparable brightness. The blue light suppressed melatonin for about twice as long as the green light and shifted circadian rhythms by twice as much (3 hours vs. 1.5 hours).
“In another study of blue light, researchers at the University of Toronto compared the melatonin levels of people exposed to bright indoor light who were wearing blue-light–blocking goggles to people exposed to regular dim light without wearing goggles. The fact that the levels of the hormone were about the same in the two groups strengthens the hypothesis that blue light is a potent suppressor of melatonin. It also suggests that shift workers and night owls could perhaps protect themselves if they wore eyewear that blocks blue light.”
It is important to note that blue light in itself is actually a very good thing and that exposure to blue light (preferably outdoors) is important during the day to maintain proper circadian rhythm. It is only blue light at night that causes the problem since this light signals the body that it is still daytime (sunlight has a lot of blue light). (This PDF explains more)
In fact, avoiding blue light during the day has been linked to depression and sleep troubles so it is important to get blue light, but only during the day.
Psychology Today explains the benefits of wearing blue-blocking sunglasses at night:
  • “A study of 20 adults who wore either blue-light blocking or ultraviolet-light blocking glasses for 3 hours before sleep found that both sleep quality and mood improved among those in the group who wore blue-light blocking glasses, compared to the ultraviolet-light blocking group.
  • Shift workers are at especially high risk for circadian rhythm disruptions, because of their non-traditional schedules. In a study by scientists at Quebec’s Universite Laval, nightshift workers used blue-light blocking glasses at or near the end of their overnight shifts for 4 weeks. At the end of study period, their overall sleep amounts increased, as did their sleep efficiency.”

What You Can Do to Avoid Blue Light at Night:

  • Limit or avoid TV, computer, phone, etc after dark
  • If that isn’t possible or plausible, use orange sunglasses to help greatly reduce the blue light. I use these Uvex glasses because they were inexpensive and the most effective at reducing blue light of any of the orange glasses I tried (they also have one that fits over reading glasses). I actually ordered several pairs and these were the most comfortable and effective. You can also find more high end official blublocker glasses if you want a slightly higher quality pair.
  • Install an app like f.lux on computers and tablets. This automatically reduces blue light on these devices after dark.
  • Dim overhead lights or just use lamps with orange bulbs after dark. Our favorite way to do this is by using salt lamps to light our house at night. Bonus: They also help clean the air.
  • Exposure yourself to sunlight during the day to help keep your circadian rhythm in check and get some Vitamin D at the same time.

Relieve Stress Now with Meditation & Movement



Meditation for Stress Management

Probably the simplest and most effective way to reduce and/or manage stress in our daily lives is to practice meditation. The benefits are significant and if you don’t have a daily practice established yet, here are some good reasons to start now! During meditation the heart rate and breathing slow down, your blood pressure normalizes, you use oxygen more efficiently, and you sweat less. Also, your adrenal glands produce less cortisol, your mind ages at a slower rate, and your immune function improves. It is also known to help improve creativity!
So, now that you know the benefits you’re ready to get started.
  • Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lay down where you won’t be disturbed.
  • Start with 5-10 minutes of meditation initially and then add on 5 minute increments when you feel ready to lengthen your practice.
  • Close your eyes and just focus on your breathing, feeling your belly rise and fall with each inhale and exhalation.
  • Allow the thoughts and any emotions you feel to just be there. Remain an objective observer to them, no need to resist them, just accept that they are there right now. The more you practice, the more gaps you will experience between your thoughts. Those gaps are the state of meditation.
  • Give it time to cultivate your practice. If at first you don’t succeed no need to judge yourself for it. Remember that it takes a regular practice to remain still for long periods.
  • Use a timer (e.g. soothing chimes) to let you know when you’re practice time is over so that you can move with awareness into whatever is happening next in your daily routine. Move More, Stress Less
  • Too busy and stressed to move more? Think again. Just about any form of physical activity - from a brisk walk to lifting weights - relieves stress.
  • Activity pumps up feel-good chemicals in the brain. Do you notice yourself feeling happier and more confident after going for a walk or taking a Zumba class? If so, that's those mood-boosting chemicals at work.
  • Also, the effect of physical activity is similar to meditation - when you focus on a single task, whether deep breathing as in meditation or in concentrating on moving your body, your stress level drops. Afterward you will feel calm and ready to tackle your to-do list.
  • Pencil-in time on your schedule for physical activity. By making activity a priority you have a built-in natural stress reliever for your busy day.

How does Reiki and other methods of hands-on healing work from a scientific standpoint?


 
People around the world have been using Reiki and other hands-on healing methods to assist individuals in improving their health and state of well-being for centuries. As humans and technology have evolved, we began to take a more medical approach to health and wellness (at least in the western world); therefore, Reiki and other alternative methods of healing have been perceived as unrealistic or “mystical”.  We are now at the point in our human evolution where we are uncovering the science behind formerly “mystical” approaches.  Much the same as once thinking the stars in the sky were all Gods or the world was flat, we now have the technology to look beyond the mysticism and see the reality of what is before us.
Reiki practitioners often describe how their healing modality works as bringing Source energy (God energy, Love energy, Chi, etc.) in through their crown chakra (top of the head), down through their heart chakra, into their arms (extensions of the heart chakra), out their hands and into the body & energetic field of their client — healing, balancing and cleansing them.  While this explanation is certainly valid, it is difficult for people who need a more scientific or logical explanation of how Reiki works to accept this explanation.
To view this from a logical standpoint we need to understand the electromagnetic field, the myofascial system, chakras, and biophotons.  Once these are understood separately we can put them together to understand the science behind holistic energy healing.

The Electromagnetic Field

Energy Torus field of a man's heartTo grasp the basic concepts of energy healing understand first that everything is made up of electromagnetic energy, or simply put, energy.  All energy vibrates at different frequencies that correspond to sound, light and color. The Eastern explanation of energy refers to this energy as ‘Chi’ (pronounced Chee), the vital life force energy of the Universe, present within every living thing, whereby the Western explanation of energy within the body typically refrains from explaining what energy is but instead states that we need energy within our bodies to sustain life and that energy cannot be destroyed or eliminated from our being. Western medical science is now beginning to take a serious look at ancient Far Eastern traditions that focus on Chi, the life force energy which flows through the body pathways – known as meridians and chakras – of all living forms, in order to maintain health and wellness, energetically, mentally, physically, and emotionally. This life-force energy, or Chi, moves within, from and around our bodies through what is known as an electromagnetic field (see picture above). An electromagnetic field (also known as EMF or EM field) is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects. Humans, animals, plants, cell phones, even planet Earth has an EMF and this Chi flows from all parts in the Universe, in and throughout this EMF continually. The Institute of HeartMath is currently conducting enlightening research on the EMF and their findings on how the EMF affects and is affected by our emotions and thoughts, or intention.  It is this field that energetic healers work within to bring about clearing, balancing and healing of the body.

The Myofascial System

Fascial (Fascia) Tissue up closeThe Myofascial System, which makes up 60% of your body, consists of fascial tissue (fascia). In the photo to the right you can see that fascial tissue is actually made up of tiny microtubules of callogen, similar to fiber optics, which are hollow and fluid-filled and carry information about proprioception as well as carrying your consciousness throughout your body.
This tissue is a white or clear connective tissue that supports, envelops, and connects our organs, bones, muscles, and tissue together.  The fascia provides a sliding and gliding environment for muscles, suspends organs in their proper place, transmits movement from muscles to bones, and provides a supportive and movable wrapping for nerves and blood vessels as they pass through and between muscles. If you ever dissected an animal in your high school biology class, you would have cut through this white, skin-like tissue to get to whatever organ, muscle or bone you were trying to find.
fascial-bandsFascia also conducts your energy; you might consider it an energy highway.  When we send energy from our body to another body it is moving through and from the fascia.  This fascia also creates our chakras or energy centers within the body. These energy centers are where the fascial tissue actually congregates in horizontal bands (see diagram to the left) creating a concentration of energetic vibration and internal power.
The videos below will assist in understanding more about the myofascial system and its role in energy conduction…Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot of research that has been done on living fascia but in recent years new technology and instruments have allowed scientists, researchers, and doctors to see the fascia up close in a living organism while performing its normal functions.

 

 

Biophotons

By understanding your electromagnetic field and fascia, you can now see how this life-force energy moves throughout and around your body, both physically and energetically.  However, to fully understand energetic healing we must add the variable of biophotons and their role in this fascinating process.
wpaad2cca9All living organisms emit a constant current of biophotons, which are elementary particles of light coming from a biological being. Pictured to the left are biophotons in a drop of water. These particles are emitted and direct instantaneous signals to multiple locations at once, from one part of the body to another, and to the outside world. They are stored in the DNA and their function is cellular communication.  Physicists actually call these light particles the “communicators” in the body because they use your intention to direct other particles to rearrange into either a healthy or non-healthy pattern.  In biology every cell in your body has over 100,000 biochemical reactions per second, all of which must be carefully timed and sequenced with each other. Research has provided evidence that this cellular dance is not random, but rather controlled by these biophotons.  To further explain, science is showing us that biophotons are in control of virtually every biochemical reaction that occurs in your body through our thoughts, emotions, and intention, including supporting your body’s ability to heal, releasing old patterns or forming new supportive ones.
A direct intention manifests itself as an electric and magnetic energy producing an ordered change of photons. Our intentions operate as highly coherent frequencies capable of changing the molecular structure of matter.
In short, it is the biophotons that allow for our patterns to form and break, allow our emotions to hold a negative charge or balance into a positive experience, and allow our body to be in a state of health or dis-ease.
Taking this explanation of biophotons one step further, we’re going to look at images of biophotons in a drop of water (below). In February 2006, using a Somatoscope, which is a darkfield microscope with a magnification of 30,000x, researchers were able to observe the inside structure of biophotons for the very first time. What was discovered when focusing on a single biophoton was that in the center of this spark of light a six-pointed star was contained within a hexagonal geometric shape, as is seen appearing in photo 4.  By photo 6 you can see a Merkaba form in the middle with a hexagon around the edge and by photo 9 you can see the Flower of Life form.  If you connect Sacred Geometry with healing, you may come to the conclusion that at the center of the flower of life is our consciousness, the consciousness directs the photons, the photons direct our patterns and positive or negative state of being, which means – we completely control our own state of being.  We are not a victim to anyone or anything, we hold all the cards and only we can heal ourselves.

Putting it all together

Reiki works when biophotons are brought in from source energy, through the fascia, into the heart and then into the hands of a practitioner or ones’ own hands.  When a practitioner and a client have a shared intention or when the self has a clear intention on what is wanted the biophotons travel through the fascia of the client or self, moving into the DNA and communicate with other biophotons within the body to allow healing, clearing, balancing, etc.  In other words the biophotons are directed to restructure the chemical reactions and molecular makeup of the body for health and wellness to occur.

Conducting a healing session

imageAnyone can heal and everyone has the power to change the course of their physical, mental and emotional well-being.  The following is an explanation of one method of conducting a healing session on others, but can easily be applied to the self.  Methods vary from practitioner to practitioner and each method has value and worth.  If you are not finding success with your own self-healing, seek a local energy healer who can guide you through your release.
To begin, take a few deep breaths with your client to help engage the Vagus nerve which triggers a signal within your nervous system to slow down the heart rate, lower blood pressure, and decrease cortisol, the stress hormone. Then guide them into their heart center (chakra) asking them to connect their heart to yours so that a partnership is formed while conducting the healing process.  Remind the person you are working on that the practitioner is a conduit to move the energy and set the space for healing to occur—the true healer is the self.
Kelly Schwegel HealingOnce hearts are connected begin by placing your hands on your client –go where you feel called to go, listening to your intuition or when releasing old emotion, place one hand on the heart and one on the solar plexus.  Set an intention for the energy and ask to bring in the right energy for the client’s highest and greatest good. By setting that intention you bring in the correct arrangement of photons into your crown chakra, down through your heart, out your arms, and through your hands.  What leaves your hands are biophotons that are in perfect arrangement for the client’s healing and balance. Once these particles of light enter your client’s body, they communicate with the client’s own biophotons to assist in rearranging molecules into a healthy pattern. Continue to set these intentions together as you work on various parts of the body or on particular emotional releases, moving this energy through the fascia.  By doing this rearranging of molecules, energy blockages and old emotions can be released, leaving the client in a healthier, balanced state. There are particular techniques and symbols that are taught in Reiki classes and can increase frequency and direction for the healing sessions; seek a local Reiki instructor for further training to assist either yourself or others.

Conclusion

Although it is typically very difficult for many to accept changes in the way we view the world and the advances we are making that assist us in understanding it, we know that we have much to learn and our growth is not nearly complete. As a society, the more open we are to looking beyond what has been and open up to what we are currently learning, the more progress we will make as an evolving species.
